BuddyCRM allows you to create pre-filled email templates that can be sent from the lead or account record pages to a contact. This both standardises and speeds up communication with cold leads, prospects or established customers & suppliers. In this article we will discuss how to set up and use this powerful feature.
Merge Tags
If you wish to include information automatically pre-filled from your CRM data fields within your email template, you will want to set up Merge Tags first. There is a handy guide available here.
Create Templates
In Admin, go to Template List then Email Templates. This screen is simple: click create to add a new email template, or click on the name of an existing template to make changes.

Email Template allows you to enter a useful name for the template.
Email Subject is the subject that will be pre-filled.
Email Body allows you to enter the content for your email. If you expand the merge tags section on the right-hand side, you can drag in merge tags to pre-fill information from the CRM data fields when sending the emails.

Hit Save Email Template when you are finished editing to save.
Preferred Email Application
Later on when we come to send the emails, your web browser will open your preferred email application in order to send your email. Therefore it would be advisable to set up the standard program that will open email within your browser settings.
There are guides below to doing this for common email browsers:

Sending your Templates
From any lead or account record page, there are the contacts on the left-hand side.

Click on the blue button to the right of any contact with an email address to bring up the email template list:

Select the template you wish to send and the system will automatically open your preferred email system, creating a new email and pulling in the contact email address (BCC’ing maildrop@buddycrm.com to loop the email back into the CRM), the subject and the body complete with any merge tag information pulled in:

Simply make any further modifications needed, or just hit send in your email client to send your email.
