This is only applicable with the ‘Allow Contacts Against Multiple Records’ system setting enabled. There are implications for turning this on that need to be discussed with support.
When ‘allow contacts against multiple records’ is enabled, there is a slightly different process for adding the contact against another company – the user doesn’t add them new, the user would instead link them via a different screen.
First you will need to go to the Contact Overview page in the system – you can do this either by:
Going into the Contacts module:
![]()
Searching for the name/email address of the contact:

Then click on the name of the contact:

Or – use the top search bar by email address:

Then click on the company in the search result:

Then click on this square button next to the contact:

Either of these routes loads the Contact overview page

The next step is to click on this company icon top-right:

You can then search for the company to link the contact to:

This will link this contact to more than one company.
Linking Maildrop emails
When enabling the setting to allow contacts to be linked to more than one company, there is a behavioural difference when utilising the Maildrop functionality in BuddyCRM.
To recap Maildrop, this feature allows you to BCC maildrop@buddycrm.com into your customer emails, which will then loop the correspondence you have sent (including any attachments) into the CRM within the Activity Feed. This is great for capturing client communications and making them visible to the whole team.
If a contact exists against more than one company, you will need to manually go into the CRM and choose the relevant account or lead for each email that you send. Below is the process:-
First you will need to go to the Contact Overview page in the system – you can do this either by:
Going into the Contacts module:
![]()
Searching for the name/email address of the contact:

Then click on the name of the contact:

Or – use the top search bar by email address:

Then click on the company in the search result:

Then click on this square button next to the contact:

Either of these routes loads the Contact overview page

In the Activities section of the screen, your email will show with this type of icon to the right of it:
![]()
Click the chain icon, which exposes checkboxes to select which company to link the email to. Simply check the relevant company to link
