Before using any of BuddyCRM’s AI features, take time to thoroughly populate the Company Context menu with detailed information about your business; what you do, who you sell to, how you operate, and the terminology specific to your industry.
This isn’t just a formality. The AI features in BuddyCRM are powered by large language models (LLMs), and like any AI system, the quality of what you get out depends heavily on the quality of what goes in. Company Context works alongside a subset of your live database to “seed” these models — giving them the grounding they need to produce results that are actually relevant to your business, rather than generic, one-size-fits-all output.
Without this context, the AI has no way of knowing:
- What industry you operate in, and the language your customers use
- Your brand and tone of voice
- What “good” looks like for your business (e.g. what makes an opportunity high-value, or a customer at risk)
- Any nuances specific to your company that wouldn’t be obvious from raw data alone
Company Context is what turns that raw data into something meaningful, giving the AI the background it needs to interpret your data the way a knowledgeable member of your own team would.
To fill this in go to ‘Admin > Settings’ then select ‘Company Context’.
The following fields need filling in:
Company Name
Industry
Target Audience
Tone
Brand Voice
Content Preferences
Description
The bottom line: the more complete and specific your Company Context, the more accurate, relevant, and useful your AI-generated insights will be. Skipping this step is the most common reason AI outputs feel vague or generic — the model simply hasn’t been told enough about your business to do better.
